STRAP YOURSELF IN
In this issue we have a feast of excellent articles, wonderful photogra-phy to inspire, climbing tips and much more so strap yourself in for a great read over the following pages. A dramatic intro indeed and one I’m not usually accustomed to but I do think this is a cracking issue and one to shout about, so there you go.
As an aside from this, and with things looking slightly better with
the pandemic, I managed to actually leave the UK for the fi rst time in two years with a trip to Leonidio in Greece. What a place. Despite the best attempts from the government to confuse with changing the criteria for fl ying, and getting back into the UK as we were about to leave, I must say the hassle was worth it. It’s a stunning part of the world and whilst I’ve been to the Greek climbing Mecca of Kalymnos on many occasions, and fallen in love with the place, it was an eye opener to fi nd this equally amazing venue.
We have featured Leonidio before in Climber and as that was mainly based on harder routes I wasn’t sure what to expect quality wise in the easier grades. I needn’t have been concerned – it was packed full of superb routes from around F5 to F7a with so much more waiting for development. Of course, I took my camera and there will be an article at some stage aimed at mortals but my focus was to actually climb so limited myself to a couple of photos each day – a rarity indeed as I’m usually ruining around like a man possessed with camera in hand…
That’s for a future issue so what’s so good about this one? First up, and the cover story, are the many fi ne routes and crags in the backwater of theMoelwynion and Cwm Lledr area of Snowdonia.
