An Inverlochy pensioner who drove a car while more than three times over the legal alcohol limit, has been banned from driving for a year and fined £480.
Fort William Sheriff Court heard last week how Robert Stewart Mitchell, 71, of Lundy Road, Inverlochy, Fort William, had parked his car at the fuel pumps at the Morrisons petrol station at An Aird, Fort William, on June 9 this year.
Staff noted he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and contacted the police. ‘The accused was traced by police officers a short distance from the petrol station and tested positive on being breathalysed’, said Procurator Fiscal Depute David Morton. Mitchell’s breath alcohol reading was 75mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath. the legal limit is 22mcgs of alcohol.
