An Oban man has been fined £1,200 for following a woman and uttering off ensive remarks.
Ewan MacCorquodale, of 5 Campbell Crescent, Oban, pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by following a woman, refusing to leave premises, and swearing and uttering off ensive remarks on June 10, 2018. The 29-year-old was sentenced at Oban Sheriff Court on Monday October 22 and, in addition to the fine, he was subject to social work supervision order and a contact requirement for 18 months.
His defence solicitor said: ‘He was extremely intoxicated. My client accepts fully that his behaviour was unacceptable. He followed the complainer and misread the situation. He said a man was sitting there with a number of young females and he began to shout and swear. [MacCorquodale] was the victim of an assault in response to the way he was behaving.’
