Tony and Maureen Wheeler had ‘a beat-up old car and a sense of adventure’ when, 40 years ago, for their honeymoon, they decided to attempt to cross Europe and Asia overland, all the way to Australia. From that, Lonely Planet was born. Their new guide, The World, shares all they’ve discovered, including the great wildebeest migration in Tanzania (pictured), described as ‘one of earth’s most spectacular natural dramas’.
