Tell me all about it

One and a half million people in the UK are in therapy, and Susie Orbach, a psychotherapist for more than 40 years, has heard many of their stories. Ali Roff talks to her about her own experience of therapy, and how speaking through stories can alter their path

Q+A

“It’s possible to change the present and it’s possible to come to terms with the past”

I suppose it allows us to not be repetitive, not have the same story, or have the same conclusion. We come up with rather simplistic stories – in their crudest form, either everybody else is bad or wrong, and we’ve been wronged, or we’re wrong and everybody else is OK.
