UltraMarine Magazine  |  Jun/Jul 2016
Greetings to you, UltraMarine reader!
This issue has proven by far the most interesting and challenging to put together. For a start I managed to break my ankle playing football in late April and this meant that, unfortunately, I couldn’t make it to Interzoo as planned. Assembling all the new product information remotely, rather than meeting contacts face-to-face, didn’t prove to be the easiest method as, I’ll be honest, not all aquatic suppliers seem keen to make the most of a bit of free publicity! Anyway, respect to Kumar as he did still attend and provided lots of the information to allow me to tell you about all the new products heading your way.
Of course, the name Dory is bound to be on everyone’s lips by the time this issue is released and it’s no surprise that the subject is being covered left, right and centre in the media already. Having read as many of those offerings as possible, I did leave my Fishes in Focus piece until the last minute this month to try to avoid repeating any material. It was a difficult piece to write. Actually I want to say thanks to the organisations that contributed as it really helped me to (hopefully) make it relevant to hobbyists here in the UK… perhaps something not covered by other authors so far.
I’d like to welcome a slightly new line up of contributors this month… specifically we’ve got Kenneth Wingerter with a fascinating piece on Miracle Mud, and Keith Moyle (whose tank featured back in the June 2015 issue) kicks-off a two-parter with a great article about tank controllers. Heck it’s even got me contemplating some new kit! Last but not least, check out Chris Williams’ fantastic tank feature if you are in search of some inspiration. My ankle prevented me from covering Gary Wilkinson’s tank (as promised in the ‘next issue’ section of the last issue) but I’ll be covering this one myself in our next issue.
