Get into car-pooling
With the cost of travel and the volume of traffic on the roads regularly hitting the headlines, it’s no surprise that car-pooling is catching on. Could shared journeys be the key to an enjoyable commute?
At its simplest, car-pooling involves a pair or group of people arranging to travel together, and there are many reasons to consider it. Shared journeys can reduce fuel and parking costs for all parties and cut the impact of motoring on the environment. It can also be a great way to get from A to B in company. Some people use car-pooling for regular journeys, like commuting to work or getting to medical appointments. For others, a ride-share can be a good way to travel for leisure, visit new places or make one-off trips.
Although there are definitely lots of good things to be said for car-pooling, sharing the confined space of a vehicle with a stranger for the first time can be daunting. What will you talk about? Should money be exchanged? Will you be safe?
