KUWAITI BUDGET carrier Wataniya Airways (Q9, Kuwait) has wet-leased A320-200 YL-LCP (c/n 1823) from Latvian ACMI specialist SmartLynx Airlines. The jet was ferried to Kuwait on November 4 with the aircraft operating for Wataniya until March 31 on routes to the Middle East and Europe.
The airline’s existing fleet consists of two A320s, dry-leased from Air Arabia. It operates services from Kuwait to Bahrain, Baku, Beirut, Luxor, Najaf, Sarajevo, Sohag and Tbilisi. The airline plans to begin flights to Kathmandu, Nepal, before the end of the year.
