CFM INTERNATIONAL announced at the Dubai Airshow that it will achieve record production levels in 2017. It says it will have manufactured 1,800 to 1,900 engines by the year-end, while also logging orders for 2,944 powerplants through to the end of October.
Gaël Méheust, President and CEO of CFM International, remarked: “It has been quite a year for CFM and we’re not done yet! The supply chain has already reached our 2018 planned rate of 20 LEAP engines per week and we have nearly completed implementation of our dual source strategy [the duplication of assembly sites within GE’s half-share of the production ramp-up].”
In 2016 the firm delivered 1,693 CFM56 and 77 LEAP engines as it began to transition to its new production line. This year it is on track to handover 1,400 CFM56s and 450 LEAPs as it ramps up towards the annual target of 2,000 engines by 2020.
