THE CATHAY Pacific Group is introducing high-speed Wi-Fi to all its Boeing 777s and Airbus A330s from mid-2018, in a response to its customer demand for inflight connectivity. The move follows the successful introduction of onboard broadband services on its A350-900s. Paul Loo, the airline’s Chief Customer and Commercial Officer commented: “We have been listening to our customers who have told us that staying connected inflight is important to them.
Soon they will be able to roam around our cabins – once the fasten seatbelt sign is switched off – and connect to the internet at 35,000ft.” Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon are adopting Gogo’s 2Ku satellite-based broadband inflight technology, with the group anticipating that its widebody fleet – currently 131 aircraft – will all be fully updated.
