The brightly coloured 500e on the front cover indelibly marks the introduction of electric power to the Abarth brand, with a boosted version of the excellent city car. We’ve also got the first photographs of the e-Tourneo Custom, which will serve as a replacement for Ford’s S-MAX and Galaxy when production ends in a few months. In addition to a pure electric drivetrain, there’s also diesel and plug-in hybrid drivetrains, too. And it is good news for Ford Halewood workers, as we reveal an electric boost to the production facility. We also have the first pictures of the Vauxhall Astra Electric, official sketches of the facelifted Volkswagen ID.3 and news of a UK project to build hydrogen fuel-cell editions of the Hilux pick-up truck.

This month’s twin test sees the latest Mercedes-Benz C-Class estate take on its venerable rival, the Audi A4 Avant. Which one wins this German grudge match? We also have tests of the BMW 220d M Sport Coupé, the Alfa Romeo Tonale, Kia XCeed and Peugeot 408 plug-in hybrids, as well as the pure electric GWM Ora Funky Cat. In our used car section, there’s a comprehensive buying guide for the SEAT Ibiza 1.6 TDI.

But that’s not all, we also have your favourites, including The Doctor, Fuel for Thought, Motor Grump, Autojumble, Bright Spark, Road Watch, Techzone, Current Affairs and Gadget Inspector, as well as focusing on wheels and tyres in our Tuning and Modifying section. That’s in addition to the most up-to-date data section in the business

diesel, green cars, electric mag

The UK’s leading magazine for diesel, green cars, electric, hybrids and alternative fuelled vehicles, full of advice on tech, mechanics, future plans. great photos inspiring reviews Reviewed 21 August 2022

I like the way it has evolved over the years

I have been buying it in print and online since the early 2000s and I like that it always has focused on the economy end of motoring, or us cheapskates if you like. It has moved to covering hybrids and electric cars which is good, and hasn't forgotten its roots - diesels.

It's a friendly, down to early mag and Doctor Diesel is still the best bit.
