Furniture & Cabinetmaking  |  January 2010
I think I must be a tidy person by birth. My workshop is tidy. My bench is tidy and the drawers of chisels and planes within it are all neatly arranged. I’m not at all conscious of this habit because as I mentioned it comes naturally and often manifests itself into my work through the processes I use. I should point out that I am aware that it irritates as many people as it pleases so what we have prepared for you this month is a well-balanced collection of the familiar and not so familiar. We have, quite rightly this month, spent time paying tribute to the work of Alan Peters. In turn this prompted Andrea Hargreaves to visit National Trust property, Standen, in West Sussex for a closer look at Arts and Crafts design as it was intended.
