WHAT IS TYPE 2 DIABETES?

The days are gone when people with diabetes were encouraged to follow a restricted diet. In fact, you should aim to eat a healthy diet with nutritious foods from all five food groups, just like anyone else, and this can still include favourite foods. There are, however, certain things (such as cakes and pastries, biscuits, sweets, soft drinks and fried fast foods) that aren’t needed for nutrition and are best kept as occasional treats, in small portions, rather than everyday choices.
