Union boss Manuel Cortes has welcomed the news that Abellio has agreed to recognise his union, the TSSA, for its contact centre in Fort William.
Mr Cortes held a meeting on Tuesday August 14 with Abellio in the wake of the news that four members of staff at the call centre would not have their employment continued after their jobs were transferred to Glasgow.
He said: ‘We are now seeking assurance from Abellio that the jobs will remain in Fort William. I’m expecting to hear from them soon but I was somewhat reassured by the fact they are seeking to fill vacancies. It is very clear that we are now in the process of putting in place a recognition agreement that will allow our members’ voices to be heard loudly and clearly.’
