Parishioners on the heavenly isle of Tiree are hoping their prayers will be answered and they find a new minister soon. White sandy beaches and crystal clear waters are just some of the perks of the job. The island paradise might not have the tropical temperatures of the Caribbean but the Kirk is off ering the right person a unique opportunity to live and work there. The Church of Scotland’s only congregation on Tiree in has a vacancy for a minister who will be lucky enough to live in a manse just yards from a beach.
Members are looking for someone whose heart will truly resonate with this unique community. The parish covers all 30 square miles of the island, which does experience good weather and is known as the ‘sunshine isle’, with church numbers changing through the seasons.
With a long history of Christianity and a close sense of community, the job will appeal to someone with a desire to fully immerse themselves in island life, said Jo Bennett, who is the clerk of the congregation’s nominating committee.
