THE National Tramway Museum is appealing for help in acquiring its own road-rail mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) for use on replacing overhead line infrastructure at Crich Tramway Village.
General manager Mike Galer told The RM: “What we’re hoping is to perhaps get a second-hand one or, dare we even hope for an industry provider to give us an older one that we could maintain into the future?”
It plans to replace a total of 67 traction poles supporting overhead wires over the next few years and is also looking for people to sponsor these at a cost of £1000 each, or associated equipment for a smaller fee.
