TWO High-Speed Train power cars and three trailers are now resident on heritage railway metals in Peterborough following their move by 125 Preservation. The group’s HST power cars Nos. 43045 and 43060 plus trailer No. 40904 were due to be moved by rail from Long Marston in early November, but this was cancelled when the Nene Valley Railway’s (NVR) main line connection at Fletton Junction was closed for track repairs.
Power car No. 43060 arrived at Wansford station yard by road on January 10, followed the next day by No. 43045, and subsequently, trailers Nos. 42357 and 42355, both of which were latterly in service with LNER.
Following preparation, including a fitness-to-run exam, the set ran from Wansford to Yarwell and return, before heading to Peterborough on January 29. Trailers Nos. 42357 and 42355 were deposited at Overton station yard for storage, while the powers cars and buffet car headed to sidings in the Railworld Wildlife Haven, located alongside Peterborough Nene Valley station and within earshot of the East Coast Main Line.
