If you’ve ever had difficulties with your skin, this article is for you. It’s not because vegan men and women are infamous for their terrible skin, or a tendency for dermatological conditions, actually quite the opposite. It’s pretty clear that in this day and age, skin conditions and minor skin complaints are rife amongst the population. Even in those of us who’ve been cleansing, toning and moisturising since we were old enough to pick up a konjak sponge, we are a generation of skin complainers. Personally speaking, my relationship with my own skin has been, at best, difficult. While acne plagued my selfconfidence for years, rosacea rears its rosy-red marks upon my cheeks while I kick back into downward dog in my Friday sessions of hot-yoga (the most millennial statement I’ve ever uttered). After years of blaspheming at myself in the mirror, shelling out on expensive products and juicing my way to utter misery, I’ve learnt to support my skin from the inside and outside, reading the signs and signals my skin provides to me, in order to adjust my diet and lifestyle for the better.
So if you are one of the many people whose relationship status with their skin is forever in the ‘it’s complicated’ territory, let’s get to work on counselling ourselves towards a mutual settlement, ending the feud between you and the largest organ you own.
