CHRIS CARTER
CHRIS CARTER’S CHEMISTRY LESSONS VOLUME ONE
MUTE
Given his history with Throbbing Gristle and Chris & Cosey, one might expect Chris Carter’s first solo album in 17 years to offer a cathartic rush of dissonance. But while Modularity may feel mildly foreboding, and Dust Spiders spirals off, quietly but uncontrollably, into the stratosphere, most of CCCLV1 drifts between hushed ambience (Gradients), and sanguine melody (Blissters).
