Soul balladeer Michael Henderson learned his craft serving as bass player for jazz legend Miles Davis in the early 70s. In addition to playing on Davis’ early fusion albums, Michigan-born Henderson worked with a range of greats including Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder, before achieving international recognition as a stellar artist in his own right. After five years of touring and recording in Davis’ band, Michael scored a 1976 US R&B chart hit with Valentine Love. Recorded as a duet with Jean Carn, the track appeared on Norman Connors’ Saturday Night Special LP. More success followed as the gifted songwriter teamed up with Connors again for You Are My Starship.
