Uriah Heep
London Palladium
Pure class from the most likeable band in rock.
Mick Box: still getting better, and somehow still underrated.
Here, there and everywhere, vocalist Bernie Shaw is at the top of his game.
MICK BOX: STEVE THORNE/GETTY; ZORAN VESELINOVIC/AVALON x2
‘The final 45 minutes is back-to-back classics and utterly brilliant.’
★ As he stands, thumbs aloft, grinning that winning grin of his, having just casually deployed yet another flawless flurry of digitally dextrous guitar glissades to rapturous applause, Mick Box gives every impression of being the most likeable man in rock. For some inexplicable reason, Box has never enjoyed a similarly stratospheric degree of acclaim to that afforded to the likes of Page or Blackmore, but watching the man work it’s impossible to understand why.
