2.5Gbps Ethernet
What is it?
Ethernet is the networking standard that carries data over cables in local area networks (LANs) using RJ-45 connectors.
How does it work?
Ethernet carries data signals through fibre-optic cable. The data is packaged up into small chunks called frames, which hold both the data itself and a header. The header contains information about the source and destination devices (to ensure the data goes to the right place), and how the data fits in with other frames so it can be properly reassembled and read by the destination device, even if it doesn’t arrive in sequential order.
