Why can’t I fix my image problem by deleting the thumbnail cache?
Q I was interested in your solution to Bob Wellcoat’s problem in Issue 708 (page 68): ‘Why have my image-file thumbnails disappeared?’ I have the same problem: some image files on my computer appear as blue icons rather than thumbnails of the image. However, your instructions to delete the thumbnail cache made no difference. Can you offer any further assistance?

A Try repeating the process (using Disk Cleanup as we originally described), then restart your PC and leave it switched on (and connected to the mains, if it’s a laptop) for several hours afterwards. It can take Windows quite a long time to rebuild the thumbnail cache after deleting it, which may explain why you’re not seeing the effects straight away. If you’re still having the same problem, there are several other things you can try.
