Samsung used to dominate the low-cost TV market, but has found it harder in recent years to compete with budget brands such as TCL and Hisense. The new U8000F series is its attempt to make up lost ground. With sizes from 43in to 85in at prices from £239 to £1,100, it’s surprisingly affordable for a major brand TV with a 4K screen and HDR10+ support. The 43in UE43U8000F we’re testing here has a trim, matte-finish black frame. It’s strikingly slim at the rear – albeit with a chunkier section near the bottom – and the only sign of cost-cutting is the stunted slot-in feet.
