Sta at rail operator Abellio’s call centre in Fort William have been told four of their jobs are to be transferred to Glasgow.
And the Lochaber Times understands that the four sta members currently lling those roles at the Dutch-owned company’s premises on the Claggan Industrial Estate will not be given the chance to transfer to Glasgow, as their employment is not being extended beyond an initial probationary period.
A spokesman for Abellio said this week: ‘As we continue to put in place the most eective service for our customers across the country, local team members have been advised of a decision to move four roles to our Gl asgow o ce.Transport Salaried Sta Association (TSSA) trade union representing 57 workers at the call centre is now seeking an urgent meeting with Abellio bosses to nd out why it is cutting jobs in Fort William.union says it wants the company to reverse its decision to make four people redundant andwill also seek assurances this move does not herald further sta cuts.
