CalMac Ferries has apologised for disruption to its services as a result of on-going issues with its Oban linkspans.
Linkspan one, which is due to be replaced at Oban Pier in February 2019, currently has a weight restriction of 8.5t per axle. All commercial customers have been contacted to discuss options because departure times might have to be altered to accommodate the weight.
A CalMac spokesperson said: ‘This restriction was imposed at the end of September and will be in place until the linkspan is replaced by CMAL in February. It will affect all routes and vessels operating from Oban. The normal weight is 11.5 tonnes.’
