The latest photography news from around the globe

1 SIMPLE CONTROLS

The controls of the PowerShot V10 are pretty simplistic and the only zooming available is digital.

2 BUILT-IN STAND

A built-in stand allows you to position the V10 easily to suit the requirements of your recording.

3 FIXED FOCAL LENGTH

A fixed focal length 6.6mm f/2.8 lens offers a 19mm equivalent for video in 35mm terms.

4 2-INCH REAR TOUCHSCREEN

Unfold the rearhinged 2-inch touchscreen and flip it up to monitor your video footage.

Canon PowerShot V 10

Introducing a dedicated vlogging camera that could offer a serious challenge to smartphones for shooting video

Designed from the ground up for simple vlogging, the PowerShot V10 has a 20.1MP 1-inch back-illuminated CMOS sensor and can record 4K 30p and Full HD 60p (IPB Standard, IPB Light) video. On the front of the unit, you’ll find a fixed focal length 6.6mm f/2.8 lens (equivalent to 18mm for stills in full-frame terms and 19mm for video) and a record button. Round the back is a 2-inch tilting touchscreen that can be flipped up to face forwards for real-time monitoring.

Other features include Face Tracking AF and Specified Frame AF and Movie Digital image stabilisation. Footage is recorded to a single microSD card and there is a one-hour limit to recording. The PowerShot V10’s ISO range is 125-6400 for Full HD and 125-3200 for 4K. Though it isn’t designed primarily for stills photography, the V10’s photo mode is automatic, although the levels of brightness can be adjusted.
