4 TIPS FOR CREATIVE SPRINGTIME PORTRAITS
As nature comes alive, the colourful flora makes the perfect backdrop for portraits
It’s true that you can take amazing portraits all year round in a studio, but in recent years, I’ve really enjoyed getting outdoors and fully capitalising on the specific colour palette of each season throughout the year.
Autumn is a firm favourite with lovely brown, red, yellow and golden hues and low sun all day long. But for me, I think spring just pips it to the post as there are so many more vibrant colours on display at this time of the year. In this project, I will share my favourite tips for changing up your springtime portraits, from including the foreground by shooting through blossom, to using a five-in-one reflector to add in a little fill light and lift the shadows of a portrait. We’ll also look at experimenting with cheap and cheerful glass prisms that create a kaleidoscopic glitchy double exposure effect for more eyecatching people pictures.
