New glass from Sony
FE 16mm F1.8 G goes on sale in April and the FE 400-800mm F6.3-8G OSS is available now
An ultra-wide compact prime lens for the full-frame E-mount, the FE 16mm F1.8 G is the widest lens in the G series before switching to pricier G Master optics. Measuring just 75mm (3in) long, an 11-blade aperture will help to deliver rounded bokeh and there are coatings to reduce flare and ghosting. The aperture ring can be de-clicked for video, and there’s also a button for focus hold. The FE 400-800mm F6.3-8G OSS is the longest zoom lens in the E-mount family and its compatibility with 1.4x and 2x teleconverters will enable a focal reach of up to 1600mm. Other high-end features include stabilisation and weather-sealing. www.sony.co.uk; £850/$799 (Sony FE 16mm). £2,550/$2,899 (Sony FE 400-800mm)
