Love is a universal feeling
BOBBI PICKARD ref lects on the transformative power of empathy
That word L-O-V-E, paraphrasing Deni Hines and the Rockmelons, means so much. Hopefully, we’ve all felt it – that soaring of spirit, that rush of heartbeat, the light-headed joy of another’s company. Hopefully, we’ve all given that most beautiful of gifts freely and received it in return.
You’ll know then how I feel when I tell you that I’m in love: I feel lighter and happier, I feel a fizzing, bubbling joy being with her, a beautiful serenity and peace lying in her arms. I laugh, and I feel alive when we touch. You may be as surprised as me reading that, given that I have always thought that (akin to Bridget Jones) my lonely corpse would eventually be eaten by my Cavapoo – but it is beautifully true.
