December 2017 and Kiki Archer’s being interviewed at the DIVA Christmas party about a film adaptation of her book, But She Is My Student. “It’s all just going to shiiiiit”, she wails when asked how it’s coming along. But now, six months later, Kiki’s blaming too much champagne for the outburst… and Winters Archer Productions is up, running and ready to roll. We caught up with the all-female team leading this venture, authors Kiki Archer and Jade Winters, and producer Alex Hogben, for an exclusive behind-thescenes look at the latest.
DIVA: Ladies, what’s happening?
ALEX: Well, we quickly realised that our initial investment, which we were so thrilled to have, was nowhere near enough for a high-quality feature film. Cue the despair and frantic discussion about other options: give up, hold on, crowdfund.
