LYKKE LI
LA-based Swedish vocalist, producer and songwriter Lykke Li released her new single, Deep End, via Instagram, with the footage shot entirely on an iPhone. She then released the cinematically beautiful Hard Rain as part two of the same love story. Hard Rain expands on the Deep End music video, showing viewers the continuation of a wild relationship. The vertical iPhone video for Deep End was filmed during the making of the video for Hard Rain – both shot on location in Mexico City with actor Moley Talhaoui and directed by Anton Tammi. These two songs, plus the track Utopia, mark the long-awaited coming of So Sad So Sexy. This is Lykke Li’s fourth full-length album and the follow-up to 2014’s critically acclaimed I Never Learn, which is still one of my most listened to albums. Watch and listen to both of these tracks and videos back-to-back and they’ll take your breath away. I’m biased anyway where Lykke Li is concerned – a true artist in every sense of the word. I expected this to be good, but it’s more than that. It’s absolutely, beautifully heartbreaking.
