MONOGAMY IS NOT FOR EVERYONE. IF YOU’RE THINKING OF OPENING UP YOUR RELATIONSHIP, DR ZAC HAS SOME SUGGESTIONS…
WITH DR. ZAC
NO TWO relationships are the same and this is probably truer in the gay world than the straight world as gay people are more likely to create their own rules.
While many gay relationships are monogamous, there are a great number that have some type of agreement about bringing a third party (or more) into the bedroom, and a vast spectrum between complete monogamy and being able to sleep with whoever, whenever. For some couples, both parties talking openly about their attraction to other people. For others, it’s a more discreet agreement between the couple in which having sex with other people is agreed upon but not shared as common knowledge among friends.
Looking in from the outside, nonmonogamous relationships can be regarded as scandalous, perhaps unhappy, or unpredictable. There’s often the assumption that “someone is going to get hurt”. However, many of these relationships are healthy and sometimes stronger than those that remain solely monogamous.
