THE TIDE IS TURNING
HOW SOON UNTIL WE SEE MARRIAGE EQUALITY IN AUSTRALIA, VANESSA MCQUARRIE ASKS LEADING ADVOCATE, ALEX GREENWICH.
IN EARLY 2017, the largest marriage equality campaign in Australia to date began as federal parliament prepared to resume. It coincided with the senate delivering its blueprint for getting the legislation right.
DNA spoke to Alex Greenwich, co-chair of Australian Marriage Equality (AME), as he was touring marginal seats, holding forums and hosting screenings of the documentary, Freedom To Marry.
DNA: Alex, where would you say we are at in the campaign right now?
Alex Greenwich: We are at a critical time. It’s clear that Australians support marriage equality and it’s clear they want our parliament to resolve the matter. Now we need to turn that legislation into a multi-partisan path to marriage equality.
