After you’ve watched a scene, the player character taps in a pithy (often punning) summary into their handheld device

Have you ever stopped to think about the many seemingly insignificant events in your life that collectively led you to where you are today? Perhaps this is an inevitable by-product of deadline week, but considering the billions of permutations of choices made and unmade is enough to make your head spin. This branching-narrative adventure posits the idea that time-travel experiments in the future have rippled backwards, causing temporal corruption with devastating effects. As an operative of the so-called Second Chance Project, you’re presented with the opportunity to rectify that mistake: the case you’re given involves six people who died in a house fire in 2015. Since halting the blaze is considered too risky, you must instead manipulate the lives of the deceased in the week leading up to it, hopefully ensuring that they all survive.
