ASSASSIN’S CREED: SHADOWS

Ubisoft is keen to focus on the dual protagonists in its latest bout of historical bloodletting, and it’s easy to understand why. Samurai Yasuke is an obviously bold inclusion for the series: a club-wielding, armoured giant who can no more parkour a rooftop than he can blend into a crowd. The option to take his raw strength into missions should then contrast smartly with the more familiar plunging kills and grapple-wire work deployed by ninja Naoe – although stabbing silhouetted guards through paper doors is an original touch – with the sum of both parts perhaps making Shadows more than merely ‘Assassin’s Creed does Japan’.
