Cake Decoration & Sugarcraft Magazine  |  September 2016
We're back to school, home from our holidays and that magical charge is in the air to say Autumn is coming soon, so we naturally crave time to bake and create.
As this is the month for starting a new academic year, we are introducing
an exciting royal icing series with Ceri Gri ths. His tutorials will take you
from beginner to perfect piping by next spring. Ceri will build your skills over the coming months to create an incredible Christmas cake and then build up to a stunning wedding muti-tier design. To support this wonderful new feature we have another exciting start from royal icing expert Christine Flinn: Christine introduces us to the forbears of over piping, starting this month with Herr T. Willy. Armed with Cake Decoration & Sugarcraft magazine, you will be able to recreate traditional designs, add your own modern twists and truly understand the history behind the techniques, so don't miss an issue - subscribe on page 11.
We love to make a bold cake statement so this issue features clear themes and cool characters from the cake world including: Karen Keaney with her rebellious punk cake, burlesque baker Charlotte White and cake rocker Du Goldman who chats to us about his exciting new series on Food Network, Cake Masters. We have incredible sugar architecture in the form of the leaning tower of Pisa created by The Hockley Twins, line dancing character magic from Rhu Strand and a super cute sprite for a fairy theme from Galit Zingman!
This month we definitely have a retro focus with Rhianydd Webb's gorgeous fifties americana cover cake, Wilton's Candy Explosion and Union Jack cake, Ruth Clemens' candy coloured homemade treats and finishing with a selection of chocolatey indulgent recipes from well known fans of Divine chocolate!
