ARGYLL ‘S health and care chiefs faced a decision yesterday (Wednesday May 30) on how to bridge a £2.4 million budget gap.
The Health and Social Care Partnership ‘s (HSCP) most controversial cost-saving proposals, to axe council-run care homes, day care and learning disability centres, were rejected by the Integrated Joint Board (IJB) in March, following public outrage when the plans were leaked.
A report presented to Argyll and Bute Council ‘s Policy and Resources Committee last Thursday outlined their financial challenges. The HSCP ‘s budget overspend was forecast to rise up to £5 million over 2017-18, but a ‘robust action plan ‘ reduced the gap to £2.528 million, broken down into £1.155 million for social work and £1.373 million for health.
