Claire Foy, star of The Crown, is testing her versatility in another iconic female role, and it’s about as far removed from the Queen as one could imagine. Her portrayal of computer hacker and social misfit Lisbeth Salander in The Girl In The Spider’s Web marks her leap into the studio stratosphere in the continuation of the Stieg Larsson Millennium saga.
Spider’s Web sees Foy take over the role played by Rooney Mara in 2011’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, while Swede Sverrir Gudnason replaces Daniel Craig as hard-pressed investigative reporter Mikael Blomkvist. The roles were previously played by Noomi Rapace and the late Michael Nyqvist in the original Swedish-language screen adaptation of the international bestselling trilogy, set in Stockholm.
