RICK PERKINS’
I bought my Triumph Speed Triple as a cat D write off for pretty cheap, it was fairly well smashed up –especially around the front end. It took a bit of time but I managed to get the bike looking standard again with stock parts, but although the bike felt good I wanted better. The Speed Triple has more than enough power so I set about improving on its handling credentials, starting with some lighter wheels to improve the flick-ability and cornering. Once that was sorted, the next thing was suspension, and having seen some upgraded forks on eBay for a Speed Triple 2016 for a mere £1000 I bit the bullet and bought them. Problem was they didn’t fit, so Robb Heatley at Hampshire Motorcycle Centre Southampton engineered some spacers and shims to make them fit the yokes and BST wheels.
