This month’s smartest tech
I’VE GOT NO STRINGS
In our tests, robot lawnmowers always lost points when it came to set up. We’d call one in and dream of the day we could leave it to tend to our lawn like a tiny Titchmarsh on wheels. Then, when it arrived, we’d open the box to find spools of wire and hundreds of pegs with which to map out the boundaries of the garden (it was a bit like putting a puppy in a pen so it doesn’t pee everywhere). But that’s all about to change. Eufy says its new model, the E15 (out in June), is “fully self-driving” – no wires or pegs needed, which could make it a game changer. Similar to the E18 (pictured below and already available in the US), but geared towards smaller lawns (800m

rather than 1,200m

), the E15 is smart enough to detect trees, borders and even pets while cutting. Eufy’s says it’ll even detect when it rains or gets dark and head back to base.
