30 Commando Information Exploitation Group RM

Royal Marines Police TroopUpdate

Royal Marines Police Tp has been focusing on some continuation and capability development training so far this year. As part of the modernisation of the Commando Forces, new equipment is being rolled out across all Units. This meant a new weapon system for the Royal Marines Police Tp, the Sig MCX. The Tp went through a two-day package learning the fundamentals of the new weapon system as there are stark differences between that and other weapons that the MPs are familiar with such as the SA80 or C8. This culminated in a variety of practice shoots leading up to the completion of the ACMT with the MCX, ensuring they are ready to deploy with the new rifle whenever required for any future Commando Force operations.

RMP climbing the ropes at RMB Stonehouse

A new initiative, driven by the attached Royal Military Police (RMP) Cpl H Awais, was launched across the RMP this term. To generate interest and a broader understanding of what is on offer for an assignment at Royal Marines Barracks Stonehouse, a ‘look at life’ was organised for JNCOs and Junior Officers. The visit put the applicants through their paces to give them a taste of what life is like within the Commando Forces, and also to give them an insight into what the All-Arms Commando Course is like, as there is a strong possibility they will attend it with an assignment to 30 Commando Information Exploitation Group.
