Diamond Wedding
WRIGHT-FISHER RM17950 Mne Iain Wright and Christine Fisher met and married in Poole within six months where he was stationed at JSAWC and Christine worked at Metalbox Hamworthy as a QC Assistant. They met in the Jolly Sailor in Poole where she was celebrating her friend Peggy’s send off to Germany to get married. They were married in St Michael’s Church, Hamworthy on 1 October 1965. All was great until Iain got a ‘crash’ 18-month draft on 1 February 1967 to 40 Cdo RM in Burma Camp, Malaysia. When he got home he had a 15-month-old daughter (whose daddy was a black and white photo in her bedroom) and a really hard time getting back to normal. They have two daughters, three grandchildren and one great-grandson and still live in Sandy Lane, Upton 60 years on.
