Dolly celebrates 40 years of her theme park
With her late husband of 59 years, Carl Dean
As Dolly Parton turns 80, she is still fizzing with enthusiasm for songwriting, as well as celebrating the 40th anniversary of Dollywood, her theme park in Tennessee.
The singer, whose birthday falls on 19 January, says that she has no intention of retiring, having thrown herself into work to help her manage her grief after the death of Carl Dean, her husband of 59 years, last March.
She is thrilled that Dollywood, which she established in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in 1986, will continue to delight visitors when it reopens in March, following its annual winter closure.
