Devil ray migration

This aerial view shows a group of Munk’s devil rays (Mobula munkiana) on a migratory journey through the Sea of Cortés, Baja California. The migration of these rays is typically driven by temporary changes in water temperature and the distribution of planktonic crustaceans for food. This species is known to breach the water’s surface, like dolphins, which is thought to be a form of courtship display.
