In Italy there’s a town built with the stars and security in mind. Founded during the late-16th century, Palmanova was built as a stronghold to defend against invading forces. It took around 200 years to construct the five-square-mile settlement we see today. At the star’s centre is a hexagonal town square surrounded by nine-sided concentric rings and encapsulated by two starshaped fortifications.
