Now that summer has finally arrived in the UK there is always the temptation to put our cake tins away and get outside to enjoy whatever respite we can have from the traditional British weather. Whenever our sun does shine however I truly believe there is no better place to be outside, so I have chosen ‘Summer Fun’ as my main theme for August.

From my inbox last year it seems that your ovens weren’t cold for long, and amongst the many tales I was regaled with were cakes decorated to
celebrate picnics in the park, a trip to the zoo, a pirate party in the back
garden, a prize for a summer fete, old friends coming round for a BBQ, and finally as the centrepiece for a traditional village cricket match.

For further inspiration we have even more ideas with our usual step-by-step projects, so help celebrate the summer by having your own fun and making a truly delicious cake to help us remember in the depths of winter just how lucky we are when the sun shines upon us (and please do send me copies of your pictures).
