Remove AI slop from Google
It occurred to me recently that ChatGPT and its chatbot brethren aren’t quite the groundbreaking tech innovations some would have us believe. After all, the concept of phrasing search queries in natural language was pioneered by Ask Jeeves, back in 1996.
Pleased with my observation, I went online to see if anyone else had made the connection, and it turned out thousands of people already have. The co-creator of Ask Jeeves was even asked about the similarity three years ago, and displayed an admirable lack of bitterness about AI copying his idea, and – long before that – Google putting him out of business (see www.snipca.com/57451).
