Promising high-end picture quality at what’s practically a budget price, the TCL 50C6KS-UK could end up being the TV bargain of 2026. It’s one of the first sets to bring in mini-LED lighting at a price below £500, along with quantum-dot colour, local dimming and support for all the HDR standards.

It’s also a very stylish design. The bezels are narrow enough not to distract from the picture, and there’s a nice contrast between the shiny black finish of the left, right and top edges and the glossy silver of the bottom edge. The build quality is heavy on the plastics and there’s more bulk at the rear (pictured below) than TCL’s talk of an ultra-slim design suggests, but it’s only really noticeable when you’re handling the TV.
