‘Free for a moment?’ emails
I keep getting emails from random people from apparently genuine addresses claiming they need help and can’t talk because they’re suffering from a health condition – sometimes tonsillitis, sometimes more serious. They always ask whether I’m “free for a moment” but never say why. The emails are short and correctly spelt, with no company names or logos. If I reply I’m sure I’ll be lured into some ridiculous scam where the person will give me a sob story and ask for money. They’re not sophisticated or especially clever, but presumably enough to make vulnerable or gullible people fall for them.
